Could there possibly be a more stunning backdrop to your first dance?!
Meet Samantha and Chris, who amidst this summer’s seemingly endless rain, married on a gloriously sunny summers day at the end of May. The couple were married by the wonderfully enigmatic Revd Derek Welsman at St Mary’s Church in Easebourne, West Sussex, followed by a reception held at Cowdray Ruins – a special thanks to Heather and her team of volunteers at the ruins who worked tirelessly to make the couple’s dreams come true.
Samantha and Chris met at a party on Valentine’s Day 2008… a fairytale beginning if ever there was one! During the groom’s speech Chris reveled in the fact that it was Samantha who made the first move, with an opening chat-up line “did you go to Loughborough?” To this day, Chris still has the party wristband from that very first night!
Chris proposed to Samantha during an Easter break to South Africa in 2011. A special holiday from the outset as the couple visited the town where Samantha was born (and had not returned since leaving aged 2), followed by 3 nights on safari in Kruger Park where Chris popped the question. He’d been in cohorts with the game lodge in the weeks prior and had managed to arrange a private champagne reception at sunset down by the Olifants River!
Back at the wedding, 120 close friends and family were treated to an array of delicious food (including self-carved roast lamb) supplied by Gemma, Guy and their team at Buns to Banquets, all hosted in a stunning clear-top marquee from Arlesford Marquees and filled with the most beautiful floral creations from Angel Like Flowers.
The day was filled with fun and laughter, particularly when Chris’ three best men (his brothers) took to the mic! The amazing evening entertainment came courtesy of the band Murdoch’s Crazy Eyes, who must have one of the most energetic lead singers I have ever seen! Not to mention the firework display Chris had arranged as a surprise for Samantha.
